The Wounded Warriors Charity Golf Day
Every year at Wooster Country Club the ladies dedicate themselves to hosting a charity golf outing for the members in aid of a very worthy cause. This year it was for the wounded warriors and I was asked to play a very important role. Dede Gerber, president of the club was organising the day and had asked me to help raise some money by utilising my ability to hit a golf ball much further than anyone else. I would be stood on the 12th ladies tee box and when the four person team arrived to play the hole, on the basis that they donate $5 each, I would drive their ball for them and try to hit the green. This indeed was a great success and I managed to raise $150 for the charity, and manage to hit some good shots for everyone involved. It really was a superb day and I was privileged to be apart of it. Here are a quick few snaps to show for it.
Junior Golf
Junior golf has been one of the highlights of my summer so far and something that I look forward to on a weekly basis. It helps to generate my coaching knowledge by learning new ways to coach and at time simply entertain a large volume of kids. We have a weekly session every Thursday and generally have around 40 children over the two sessions. We teach all aspects surrounding the game of golf from chipping, putting and driving all the way to bunker play, course management and golf etiquette. I will continue to post just how successful the junior golf programme has been throughout the summer.
Attached is a flyer that we send out to show all the dates for the junior golf programme.

The Member Guest Tournament
This is Wooster Country Clubs most coveted tournaments of the entire year and is something that has been a great learning experience for me. The tournament runs over three days in which each member can invite a guest to come and play in a practice round on the Thursday, three nine hole matches on the Friday and two nine hole matches on the Saturday, in the hope that they reach the illusive playoff. The event is an absolute hit with the members as they are showed with great meals, gifts and not surprisingly a great deal of beer to help their swings loosen up a little... My role for the event was to ensure full member and guest enjoyment for their time on the golf course, which meant organising club storage and cleaning after every round alongside knowledge of the days proceedings and an undying needs that anyone may have. I was also often used in the pro shop to help conduct sales of merchandise that people had received gift vouchers for.
Overall, the entire event was a hit with everyone having a great time, even in the pouring rain for the last round. The winners were well deserving and played great for the entire week.
This also gave me a great opportunity to watch and learn from Kelly as to how he conducted himself in his role as head professional at the club. He was extremely professional in his manner and worked extremely hard all weekend, from greeting guests to tournament officiating and scoring. Overall, he portrayed the country club and his business in a great light and something that I shall definitely try and imitate if needed to in the future. One thing that I was beyond impressed with was the member guest packet that he produced to give to each competitor which you can see below. Not only was it a great tool to use but it shows for everyone reading this just what happened over the three days and how we managed the tournament.
