Thursday as you should know by now is Junior golf day and I was extremely excited for it. This week we had a whopping 41 kids for the two sessions and they all had a blast. We started off by having them play the holes on the driving wedge using just a pitching wedge. This really emphasises distance control and is a great warm up for the kids which they thoroughly enjoy. We were still emphasising the swing mechanics this week so did the pitching through to 7 irons and finishing with drivers and of course the driver contest. What happens when we have so many is that Kelly takes one group and I take another along with Fr Gabriel, another one of the coaches, up to the top part of the range so that everyone has their hitting bay.
It was an extremely successful session and the kids loved it. Once again it was great to get a hands on approach to coaching and with the vast amount of varying golfing levels my coaching skills are really tested.
